Wisconsin County Mutual Honors Loss Prevention Achievers
At the 1994 Annual Business Meeting of the Wisconsin County Mutual Insurance
Corporation held prior to the Wisconsin Counties Association Annual Convention
in Green Bay September 12th, the Wisconsin County Mutual honored county
loss prevention achievers with awards for best overall loss ratio and made
award announcements for individual county highway and sheriff departments
for best loss ratios for those departments. Also, the winner of the prestigious
Best Loss Prevention Program Award was presented with their award plaque.
The Award Plaque for Best Loss Prevention Program for 1993 was presented
to Piece County for their outstanding loss control organization and the
level of commitment demonstrated throughout the county at all levels. This
commitment is reinforced by the regular meetings of the Pierce County Loss
Prevention Committee, the quarterly reports to the Pierce County Board,
and the time devoted to loss prevention issues at monthly department head
meetings. The effort is supported by meetings of the Highway Department
Safety Committee, and the annual Pierce County Highway Department's Safety
Day where local towns and municipalities are invited to participate along
side highway department personnel in program devoted to safety and loss
control.
The Best Overall Loss Ratio Award for 1993 went to Ashland county whose
loss ratio for 1993 was under one percent. This is a remarkable achievement
for a county with the highway and policing exposures which Ashland County
has.
Ashland County will also receive an award for Best Loss Ratio - Sheriff
Department, along with Adams, Buffalo, Door, Florence,Forest, Iowa, Juneau,
Kewaunee, Lafayette, Langlade, Lincoln, Pepin, Richland, Vernon, Vilas,
and Wood Counties, all of whom had no losses in 1993.
Four counties were announced for later award presentations for Best Loss
Ratio - Highway Department. These were Calumet, Green Lake, Lafayette,
and Wood Counties. Their loss ratios? You guessed it! In spite of the fun
winter, and tremendous responsibility resting on county highway departments
in Wisconsin, these four counties managed to get through 1993 without a
highway loss!
Congratulations are due all around for these achievers who have done so
much for their counties and county tax payers.
